Administrative Records and Data Modernization: An Update from the U.S. Census Bureau

The strategic integration of administrative records has become a cornerstone of the Census Bureau’s data infrastructure. This presentation provides an update on current efforts to enhance data quality and operational efficiency through the expanded use of federal, state, and third-party administrative data. In alignment with enterprise-wide modernization initiatives such as the Data Ingest and Collection for the Enterprise (DICE) program, the Census Bureau is exploring new methodologies to reduce respondent burden and fill critical data gaps. By providing an overview of the current landscape of data linkage at the Census Bureau, this presentation aims to inform the social science history community about the evolving infrastructure supporting the nation’s foundational data products.
